As I posted yesterday, we are doing a mini cosmetic update in our little powder room. In yesterday’s post, I showed you some pictures of the priming and wallpaper removal. Once I finished priming the paneling and removing the wallpaper, I used Behr’s Ultra White in semi-gloss to start painting the paneling, trim, vanity, radiator cover, and even the formerly gold toilet paper roll holder!
On the walls, I tried three different colors and finally settled on the lightest option, Ben Moore’s Edgecomb Gray. It’s a really beautiful “Greige” that I’ve been using frequently in this house! Before tackling the walls, I put a quick couple coats of paint on the dingy, yellowed ceiling. Look how white the fresh ceiling paint looks compared to the old color:
Once the ceiling was finished and dry, I painted the walls.
When my mom came to visit Misty Mornings for the first time, she brought me this tulip painting that I have admired in her house for the last several years. I think it renders a really special and elegant touch and looks great anywhere I put it! Pink tulips are some of my favorites, especially when they start to droop a little.
As I chose the paint colors for this room, I had this painting in mind! I was so excited to be able to hang it!
This sweet little ceramic towel holder came from my mom’s house too. She used to have it in her kitchen, but recently remodeled and didn’t re-hang the towel rack. She knows how much I love cows and offered it to me and I happily accepted! I found this little champagne holder at a yard sale. It’s real silver, I remember distinctly paying 50 cents for it! I plopped a cute little faux Ikea plant in there and called this room decorated for now!
Someday, I’m going to refresh this grout with either a “paint-on” grout renew or by just re-grouting the whole floor. I’ve tried to scrub the grout to all one color to no avail.
I think the vanity looks pretty painted white. Someday we will replace it with something a little more rustic like the upstairs one, but this is very functional for now.
And the last little update was to replace the gold outlet plate and broken spinning light switch for this:
As I always like to add at the end, here are the before and “afters” side by side one last time:
And the vanity:
It’s so much fresher and cleaner feeling to me! Have you painted anything white recently?
